As a noun, "preppy" refers to a young person from a rich family who goes to an expensive school and who wears expensive, tidy clothes, and acts in a way thought to be typical of such a school. The plural of "preppy" is "preppies".

"Preppy" can also be used as an adjective. We could have "preppy clothes, a preppy image", etc.

Example : "That School must have been built with preppies in mind", Djess shouted.

When your smartphone responds to some touches that you have not made, such as opening applications, typing words, making calls, sending messages, etc., it is called “ghost touching”.
Such touch could be a random touch where a part of the screen or the whole screen gets frozen or faulty.

Advanced students like using some appropriate expressions so as to sound different from greenhorn ones.

Here are some examples of appropriate expressions used by them; instead of using :

★ If something happens → Use → In the event of .

★ It's very exciting → Use → it's thrilling

★ It will happen → Use → it is bound to happen

★ It's the best → Use → it's by far the best

★ I'm busy → Use →I'm tied up

★ It's a secret → Use → keep it under wraps

★ I'm listening → Use →I'm all ears

★ She's rich → use → she's well-off

★I don't know → use → it beats me

ADJECTIVES ASSOCIATED WITH THE SENSES.

It is common to use the verbs associated with the senses with adjectives.
Those verbs are as follows :

★ feel
★ smell
★ sound
★ look
★ taste
★ seem

Example :

1/ I feel terrible today ( something you feel inside )

2/ you sound tired ( this is my opinion— I detect tiredness in your voice )

3/ she didn't sound Italian ( again, this is my opinion going by her voice )

4/ you look fabulous today ( this is my opinion when I look at you )

5/ he doesn't look very happy today ( again my opinion. What my eyes tell me )

👉 This milk tastes funny

★ the adjective "funny" has two meanings.

It means something that makes you laugh or something strange. In the above example it means "strange".

★ Adjective + verb

We normally use an infinitive after an adjective.

example : It was really great to see you again

For adjectives followed by a preposition, then we use the gerund.

example : he is fed up with cleaning everyday .

I would like to share some nouns with all of you this evening.

★ NOUNS ENDING IN -HOOD .

1/ Childhood : the time when someone is a child .

ex . Her childhood was full of happy moments .

2/ Neighborhood : the area where you live with your neighbors

ex. Sarah lives in a very posh neighborhood.

3/ Livelihood : your source of income, they way you earn the money you need to live.

ex. That farm is his livelihood.

4/ Likelihood : something that will possibly happen .

ex. This latest dispute greatly increases the likelihood of a strike.

5/ Falsehood : a lie , something that is not true .

ex. She doesn't seem to understand the difference between truth and falsehood.

6/ Brotherhood : group of people linked by a common interest a fraternity.

ex. The various groups eventually fused into a single brotherhood.

7/ Adulthood : the part of someone's life when they are an adult.
