What is a Silent Book Club®?
Silent Book Clubs® are meet up events where participants can chat collectively and then read silently. There are no assigned readings – what you choose to read is up to you! To learn more about Silent Book Clubs®, check out: https://silentbook.club/pages/about-us
You can bring your own book, or you can borrow one of your host’s books for the session.
This Chapter focuses on the themes of dying, death and grief, to create a space where participants can have open and meaningful conversations and bring/share/access readings on what can often be difficult topics.
The new Yellowknife chapter is aiming to host events monthly starting in November. Events will be added to this page as they scheduled. We look forward to welcoming you to one of our events! Events are free, and open to everyone who wants to participate.
A typical event will include some time for socializing and short discussion, followed by time to quietly enjoy whatever you choose to read.
Please note, this is not intended to be a therapeutic space; rather it is an opportunity for those who want to discuss and connect with others on the topics of dying, death and grief and share their experiences and create a sense of community. Hosts cannot provide therapeutic or crisis support.
Your host:
Jennifer Fresque-Baxter (she/her) is a Death Doula Candidate with the Home Hospice Association. Jen is passionate about creating spaces for meaningful conversations around dying, death and grief so people can share their experiences and build communities of care and support.
