Looking for some activities to help build up your children's fine motor skills that is fun and doesn’t feel like work? Look no further!

Place some bubble wrap on a vertical surface like a wall or and easle. Allow your childen to explore the texture and feel of the bubble wrap. They may inadvertently pop a bubble while exploring. They will probably try to recreate that pop. This exploration will facilitate problem solving, hand eye coordination, as well as finger dexterity.

Another activity to help strengthen fine motor skills is lacing. Young children may have difficulty manipulating small beads. Instead cut up lengths of straws that are easier for them to hold. Supply a container of different lengths of straw pieces and a firm string like gymp or pipe cleaners.

Children can then thread the straws onto the pipe cleaner. This activity requires concentration, pincer grasp, hand eye coordination, problem solving and patience. Once they are done lacing they will have a bracelet or necklace to proudly display!

Here are some fun paint activities that focus more on the fun process than the final outcome!

Do you have a small slide at home? Why not use it as a ramp for toy trucks. Place some long paper on the slide and extend it past the end of the slide. Offer children a few of their favourite trucks and some paint and voila you've elevated your car painting game!

Children will have fun stomping all over bubble wrap that is placed over paper and paint. Its a full sensory experience feeling the bubbles pop on their feet, hearing the bubbles pop as they stomp and seeing how the paint mixes to make new colours.
