The Story We Don’t See: Understanding Homelessness, Substance Use & Safety
Our first workshop is happening this Saturday, and registration filled up within the first day!
The response has reinforced something we already believed: there is both an interest in and a need for more education and open conversation about homelessness, substance use, and community safety.
These aren’t always easy conversations to have. They can challenge our assumptions, bring up uncomfortable questions, and ask us to look at situations from perspectives we may not have considered before. But that’s also why we believe they’re so important.
The Story We Don’t See invites us to look beyond what we see on the surface and explore the experiences, circumstances, and systems that shape homelessness and substance use. We’ll talk about stigma, safety, and the difference between feeling uncomfortable and being in danger, while exploring how understanding can influence the ways we respond to one another.
We’re not expecting everyone to arrive with the same experiences, opinions, or answers. We want to create space for curiosity, reflection, and meaningful conversation, even when the topics are difficult.
If you missed registration, we’ve opened a waitlist!
Joining the waitlist means you’ll be contacted if a space becomes available this Saturday, and you’ll also be notified when registration opens for our next session.
We’re hoping to offer another free community workshop before the end of 2026, so stay tuned!
We also have two more Ready to Respond: Opioid Poisoning Response Training sessions scheduled for 2026!
đź“… October 19
đź“… December 12
These two-hour community trainings provide practical knowledge and skills to recognize and respond to opioid poisoning emergencies, including how to administer naloxone and provide potentially lifesaving support.
Registration and waitlist are available through the ticket link in our bio.
Thank you to everyone who continues to show an interest in learning, asking questions, and being part of these important conversations.
We belong to each other.
