We’re having a party, and you’re invited! 2021 marks 50 years of DAAD in the USA, and to celebrate,
we’re hosting a big, virtual dinner. We need your contributions! invites enrolled college
students from across North America to submit video entries via TikTok to our 2021 contest.
As the past year has kept many of us at home, unable to travel to faraway destinations and try different
cuisines, it’s given us a whole lot of time to get creative in the kitchen! If you’ve been missing Germany
and its culinary traditions, now’s your chance to kick that Fernweh and get cookin’! Whip up your
favorite German-inspired dish, document the process on TikTok and make sure to both follow us
and use the hashtag so we can find your entry. You
submission enters you to win one of our top three prizes! The submission with the most likes at the end
of June 2021 will win our first-place prize, a round-trip flight to Germany. The creator of the videos with
the second and third highest amount of likes will receive gift cards to GermanDeli.com.

To kick off our month-long campaign bringing light to Black contributions to culture and society in Germany, we feature Mo Asumang. Asumang is a filmmaker, artist and writer from Kassel (Germany) who has spent decades fighting racism and xenophobia within Germany and worldwide. Asumang made her directorial debut in 2007 with the documentary Roots Germania.

We are delighted to host Dr. Mark Louden, Professor of Germanic Linguistics at the University of Wisconsin and the director of the Max Kade Institute for German-American Studies, for an afternoon lecture on the meaning of the Pennsylvania Dutch language. Join us on Friday, October 11, 2019 @ 1:00 in the University of Winnipeg Club (515 Portage Ave., 4th floor, Wesley Hall Bldg). The lecture is open to the community and admission is free!
