If your body isn’t cooperating… DON'T DITCH THE CARBS!
Ladies, hear me out… I have this conversation with clients ALL the time. In fact, it came up again this morning so I know it needs to be shared.
Whether clients come to me for burnout recovery, weight loss, hormone balance, or fertility support - their first instinct is almost always to fear carbs.
And then they tell me their energy is low, their cycles are off, and their body just won’t cooperate. 🤔
Yes, cutting carbs might drop the number on the scale short term but it’s not fat loss.
It’s water loss.
Hello, carbo-hydrate.
Here’s the scoop on carbs:
Carbohydrates are not the enemy.
They are your body’s primary and preferred source of energy.
And your body needs energy.
Not just to survive but to support your metabolism, hormones, and overall health.
When it doesn’t get enough?
It adapts.
It shifts into survival mode.
And in survival mode…
Reproduction isn’t a priority.
Digestion isn’t a priority.
Fat loss isn’t a priority.
Clear thinking isn’t a priority.
Keeping you alive is all it is worried about.
So instead of depriving your body of energy, consider:
Quality
Less processed, more whole, nutrient-dense carbs = stable blood sugar, better hormonal, mood, energy & appetite balance.
Quantity
Under-eating carbs → low energy, cravings, blood sugar dysregulation, disrupted cycles, mood swings, and binges.
Consistently under-fueling or over-fueling your body’s needs can both affect energy, weight, and hormone balance over time.
Balance
Carbs paired with protein, fat, and fiber = a well-nourished body that can actually use that energy and support metabolic health. They all work together!
This isn’t about eating perfectly.
It’s about unlearning diet culture
and relearning how to better nourish your body.
A well-nourished body is a safe and supported body.
And a safe and supported body is far more likely to feel good and cooperate. 🤗

Trying to conceive can quietly become all-consuming.
What begins as excitement and hope can slowly turn into something heavier.
It becomes overwhelming.
Exhausting.
Complex and intricate.
Delicate and raw.
For many women, the fertility journey unfolds on top of lives that are already full. Careers, relationships, families and responsibilities.
Many are already living in a state of chronic stress inside this very busy world of ours.
When trying to conceive doesn’t happen as quickly or easily as you hoped, it adds another layer of pressure that very few people openly talk about.
The appointments.
The tracking.
The waiting.
The emotional highs and lows.
Over time, many women find themselves caught in the fertility burnout cycle.
Where stress, uncertainty, and emotional exhaustion begin to impact not only your mental wellbeing, but your nervous system, energy, and overall health - all of which play an important role in fertility.
And yet this piece of the conversation is often overlooked. It is a gap in care I saw throughout my years working as a fertility nurse.
Support during the fertility journey isn’t just about tests, treatments, and supplements.
It’s also about supporting the woman carrying it all. Creating safety.

(All joking aside…)
Why do so many of us wait until we’re burned out, sick, or completely depleted before reaching out?
Because many of us were taught:
– not to be a "burden"
– not to complain
– to push through
– to minimize
– to be grateful and quiet
This isn’t strength.
And it isn’t personal flaw.
It’s a missing skill and an outdated operating system.
It’s a gap in our health literacy.
Health literacy includes knowing how, when and why to access support, before your body collapses under the weight of doing it all alone.
Needing support doesn’t mean you’re failing.
It means you’re human.
And humans heal in connection.
You don’t have to wait for crisis to connect.

EVERY symptom is the body’s attempt to solve a problem.
For years, I’ve worked with women navigating:
Burnout.
Cycle changes.

The common thread is rarely lack of discipline.
And almost never lack of motivation.
It’s stress physiology.
It’s how the body adapts under constant pressure.
Over the coming weeks, I’ll be spotlighting how stress shows up in different systems of the female body, beginning with the reproductive system.
For many of my clients, this is where the disruption becomes impossible to ignore.
Building body literacy moves us beyond symptom management (and frustration) and into whole-person understanding.

Stress doesn’t just live in the mind.
It lives throughout the entire body.
During my years working as a fertility nurse, I saw how often women blamed themselves for symptoms that were actually stress physiology and their brilliant bodies at work.
Delayed ovulation.�
Stubborn weight.�
Low libido.
Negative pregnancy tests.
Not personal failures.
Quite the opposite....
Survival.
Adaptation.
Protection.
Fertility under pressure.
Learning to reduce and cope better with stress is the most important thing we can do for our reproductive and overall health, yet it isn't part of clinical care plans or fertility treatments.
That is why I'm here. You don't have to figure it out alone. 🤗
