During these unprecedented times, we have parents that are trying to work full-time while also trying to homeschool their children. This is almost an impossible task.

Even if parents are not working, many are barely holding it together because of financial stress or the worry of becoming sick— when you’re worrying about paying the bills or where your next meal is going to come, from how are you supposed to be able to focus on your child’s education?

Now there’s nothing wrong with trying to provide your child stability and structure, but when families are under great stress to begin with, and you add on the pressure to become your child’s teacher, it becomes too much and the foundation starts to crack.

What kids need right now is an outlet to express their feelings, and time to rest. Parents need to be able to breathe. You and your children’s emotional health need to be stable before the real learning begins.

Thank goodness for play. Let them cook. Let them dance. Let them create. Let them imagine. Let them daydream. This is the real work of childhood
