Sinclair Sprockets: Student Lead, Student Designed, Student Built. We will post the current seasons progress and promote team fundraising activities.
The Sprockets are an award-winning high school robotics team that participates in Canadian and international competitions. Sinclair Secondary School is the home to the Sinclair Sprockets; team number 1075 under For Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology (FIRST) robotics. The FIRST’s program is an international robotics competition for teenagers. Every year from January until the end
of February the Sprockets build a 120 pound working robot! These robots manipulate game pieces like basketballs or Frisbees to score points and win 3v3 matches against other FRC teams. The Sprockets Team starts meeting at the beginning of the year on Tuesdays after school. The Sprockets Team gives a short interview to all new interested students due to the required time commitments needed to participate in this club. Students who join must fund-raise to cover the expense of the robot build. Students learn mechanical skills, robot design, electrical skills, computer programming and business management. At the end of each build season the Sprockets Team travel to compete in two or three competitions. If successful the team can move on to compete in the world competition at St. Louis like they did in 2013 and 2017.
