Mrs. Shields dangled the ultimate prize in front of the students in Grade 7/8 Perkins today: a coveted extra recess. The catch? Cracking a mathematical mystery that has puzzled students for generations.
Tonight’s homework: prove why a negative integer multiplied by a negative integer equals a positive integer.
Good luck tonight, 7/8 Perkins. May the math odds be ever in your favour!

Grade 6/7 students from Mr.Whillans’ class invited Mrs.Shields into the classroom today. The mission? Show the class how to conquer regrouping using a place value chart.
Did Mrs. Shields survive? Absolutely. Were there a few tense seconds where carrying the 1 felt like carrying the weight of the entire school? Maybe.
Huge thanks to 6/7 Whillans for the invitation, the laughs, and for proving that nobody is ever too old for math class.

Students in Mrs. Dodds’ class putting pencil and crayon to paper today, completing their very first journal entry of the school year!
Journaling gives our learners a dedicated space to find their authentic voice, reflect on personal goals, and build strong daily writing habits right from day one.
Home Connection: Ask your child this week: “What did you choose to write about in your first journal entry, and what is one goal you set for yourself this year?"

Spotlight on Intermediate Literacy in Ms. Perkins’ Class!
Our Grade 7 and 8 students have been hard at work sharpening their read-aloud skills, using expressive oral reading to unlock deeper understanding!
Our students are actively mastering expression, pitch, and tone. Following their read-aloud, students analyzed central themes, made inferences, and engaged in thoughtful class discussions.
If anyone has a co****le set they are willing to donate to the school that would be greatly appreciated!
Please contact Mrs.Shields at [email protected]
Thank you!
