🎨✨ Learning Through Sensory & Creativity! ✨🎨

There’s been lots of exploring, creating, and getting a little messy at Jr’s Daycare! 💕

From digging, scooping, pouring, and discovering in our sensory bins, to open-ended colouring and painting with toys, the children have been given the freedom to explore materials in their own unique ways. 🖌️🧸🌈

These activities connect beautifully to Alberta’s Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework. Through open-ended play, children are encouraged to use their creativity, imagination, curiosity, and problem-solving skills. There is no “right” way to create—the children get to make their own choices, test out their ideas, and see where their play takes them!

Sensory and creative experiences support several of Flight’s holistic play-based goals, including Play and Playfulness, Communication and Literacies, and Well-Being. Children are experimenting with cause and effect, expressing their ideas in different ways, developing fine-motor skills, and learning alongside their friends. ❤️

Sometimes the best learning happens when we simply provide the materials and let the children take the lead. 🌟

☀️🧺 OSC Picnic in the Park! 🌳💛

This past week, our OSC crew headed out for a fun field trip and picnic in the park! 🚌🌿

The kids had an absolute blast spending the day outside, exploring, playing, laughing with their friends, and enjoying their picnic together. 🥪🍎 There’s just something extra special about eating lunch outside after a busy morning of adventures!

We love being able to get out into our community, enjoy the beautiful summer weather, and make some pretty great memories together. 💕☀️

Safe to say, this field trip was a hit! 🥰🌳

Monday–Friday | August 17–21, 2026

🌅 Morning Snack

- Monday: Cereal with milk
- Tuesday: Strawberry & raspberry chia seed pudding
- Wednesday: Breakfast wraps with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheese & ketchup, served with apple slices
- Thursday: Choice of banana or apple crumble muffin
- Friday: French toast with milk

🍴 Lunch

- Monday: Breakfast for lunch — hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausages, mushrooms & cherry tomatoes
- Tuesday: Beef & broccoli with rice, served with raw carrots & ranch
- Wednesday: Cold plate — cheese, pickles, raw carrots, boiled eggs, sausage, cherry tomatoes & ranch
- Thursday: Choice of roast beef or turkey sandwich, served with cheese, sausage, cucumbers & ranch
- Friday: Spaghetti with meat sauce (hidden veggies), served with summer corn salad made with corn, yellow bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, shredded cheese, chopped bacon, ranch, mayonnaise & crushed corn chips

✨ Meet Alyssa! ✨

Alyssa is one of our student workers here at JR’s Daycare! She is 15 years old and heading into Grade 10 at St. Mary’s this fall. 💕

One of Alyssa’s favourite parts about working at JR’s is, of course, the kids! She absolutely loves getting right in there with them — playing, chasing, running around outside, drawing, crafting, and joining in on whatever fun they have going on. If the kids are running, there’s a pretty good chance Alyssa is running right alongside them! 😂

She loves how funny, sweet, and curious children are and especially enjoys seeing how excited they can get over the smallest things. She’s always happy to hand out hugs and has really enjoyed getting to know each child and all of their wonderfully unique personalities. 🥰

Outside of the daycare, Alyssa enjoys crafting, building Lego, playing basketball, watching movies, reading, and biking. She’s creative, active, and always ready to have some fun!

🦸‍♀️ Alyssa’s superpower: Her incredible kindness and her seemingly endless energy! She is genuinely one of the sweetest and most polite people, and somehow always has enough energy left to run, jump, chase, craft, play, and keep up with our busy kiddos. We love how willing she is to get down on their level and truly play with them. 💗

We are so happy to have Alyssa as part of our JR’s family and love the kindness, creativity, and fun she brings with her! 🌈✨

🌟 Meet Emma! 🌟

Next up in our staff introductions is Emma! 💕

Emma is 17 years old and still in high school, but don’t let her age fool you — she is such a hard worker and always willing to jump in and help wherever she’s needed! She brings so much fun and laughter to our daycare, and we’re so lucky to have her as part of our team. ❤️

Emma loves working with the children because, in her words, “kids are fun!” She especially enjoys doing arts and crafts with them and loves getting the opportunity to learn about, care for, and build relationships with each and every child. 🎨🖍️

She isn’t quite sure what she wants to do when she’s older yet, but she’s thinking it may be something involving children — and we can definitely see why! 🥰

Outside of daycare, Emma loves spending time in the mountains and going on hikes. 🏔️ She also enjoys snowmobiling, paddleboarding, and photography. 📸 And if there’s watermelon around, she’s probably pretty happy! 🍉

✨ Emma’s Superpower: Her incredible patience and her ability to always make us laugh! Whether she’s calmly helping a child through a tough moment or keeping the rest of us entertained, Emma brings such a fun, patient energy to our team.

✨ MEET AVA! ✨

Meet Ava, one of our wonderful student workers at Jr’s Daycare! 💕

Ava is currently a high school student and has been working with children since 2022. She has her level one in childcare. Coming from a big family with lots of siblings, being around children is something that comes naturally to her!

One of the things Ava values most is building connections with the children and making sure they feel seen and heard. 🥰 She always tries to approach every situation with compassion and is happy to jump in and help the other educators whenever they need an extra hand.

You’ll also find Ava helping to organize and plan activities, bringing new ideas to the children and getting involved in all the fun!

And of course, every member of our team has a superpower… 🦸‍♀️

⭐ Ava’s superpower is leading circle time! Whether she’s getting everyone involved, keeping their attention, or making it fun, she knows how to bring the group together.

We’re so happy to have Ava as part of our Jr’s Daycare team and to be a part of her journey as she continues learning and gaining experience working with children! 💕

🌟 MEET HAYLEY! 🌟

Next up in our staff introductions is Hayley, the wonderful educator in our baby room! 👶💕

Hayley has been working with children for the past 6 years and holds her Diploma in Child & Youth Care, making her a Level 3 educator. One of the things I love most about Hayley is how genuinely she appreciates being part of our daycare community. She truly enjoys watching the children learn, grow, solve problems, build relationships with their friends and educators, and reach all of those exciting little milestones along the way. 🥰

The baby room holds an extra special place in her heart because she gets a front-row seat to so many “firsts.” Watching the babies discover the world around them, develop new skills, and celebrate each milestone is one of her absolute favourite parts of what she does. 💗

When she isn’t at the daycare, Hayley is usually busy chasing after her own kiddo! She also loves doing puzzles, colouring, and spending time in her garden whenever Alberta weather decides to cooperate. 🌱🧩 And of course, you’ll almost always find her with an iced coffee in hand. 🧋😂

✨ Hayley’s superpower: Diffusing situations and somehow hearing EVERYTHING. 😂 Whether it’s helping bring calm back to a situation or catching something from across the room that you were sure nobody heard… Hayley knows. 👀🤣

We’re so lucky to have Hayley as part of our Jr’s Daycare family and caring for some of our littlest kiddos! 💕

🌟 Staff Introduction: Meet Dom! 🌟

Meet Dom, our retired corporate baddie from the Philippines who traded in the corporate world and found her spark in early childhood education nearly three years ago! 💕

Dom brings so much fun, energy, and creativity to the daycare. She has a way of coming up with fun and exciting activities seemingly out of thin air, always keeping the children engaged and wondering what she’ll come up with next!

Outside of the daycare, Dom is a proud fur mom, a foodie, and a fantastic cook — or at least her husband thinks so! 😂🍴🐾

✨ Dom’s Superpowers: Whipping up fun and cool activities out of thin air AND somehow teleporting from one place to another in a split second. Seriously… one minute she’s here, the next she’s across the room! 😂

We’re so happy to have Dom as part of our Jr’s Daycare family and love the creativity, fun, and personality she brings to our days! 💛

✨ Meet Karly! ✨

It’s time for another staff introduction, and today we’re excited to introduce Karly! 💕

Karly has been working in childcare for almost a year, but she’s been a mom for four years — so caring for little ones is certainly nothing new to her! In her first year working in childcare, she says the children have already taught her so much, and she loves continuing to learn from them every day.

One of Karly’s favourite parts of working with children is getting to know each of their unique personalities. She loves listening to all the sweet, silly, and sometimes hilarious stories they have to share. 🥰

Karly is currently working toward her Level 2 Early Childhood Educator certification, and we’re so excited to watch her continue to learn and grow in her career!

Outside of the daycare, Karly loves spending time with her son, baking, and trying out new hobbies. She’s also a big fan of cows 🐄, chocolate 🍫, and getting a full 9 hours of sleep — which, as a mom, might be the most impressive hobby of all! 😂

💫 Karly’s Superpower: Her kindness and patience. She has such a gentle and caring way about her, and her patience with the children allows them the time and space they need to learn, explore, and simply be themselves.

We’re so happy to have Karly as part of our Jr’s Daycare family and can’t wait to see where her childcare journey takes her! 💕
