WMST is an Indigenous led non-profit based in Canada, and we believe it’s important to support Canadian and Indigenous-owned and led businesses and nonprofits. One of our team members recently visited Black River Wilderness Park in Washago, Ontario, a 180-acre Indigenous-owned campground and cultural retreat operated by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Choosing to support local businesses like this helps strengthen communities across Canada, creates jobs, and advances economic reconciliation. It also helps build a more inclusive economy that can benefit women, especially as stronger local and community-driven economies can create more opportunities for women entrepreneurs, workers, and leaders.

“Institutionalized motherhood demands of women maternal 'instinct' rather than intelligence, selflessness rather than self-realization, relation to others rather than the creation of self." - Adrienne Rich (1976)
