At our Forest School, we maintain a 1:1 adult-to-child ratio whenever children are using sharp tools like these pruning saws. This gives each child the time, guidance, and attention they deserve while safely building confidence through appropriate risk-taking.

This week, our Explorers made their own sensory spinners! They carefully cut a wood cookie, drilled holes, threaded and tied the string—and voilà! A simple handmade toy that encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and a sense of accomplishment.

We are so grateful to our amazing summer families and can’t wait to welcome both familiar and new faces this fall!

🌿 Fall Registration is NOW OPEN for Mindful Explorers Nature & Forest School! 🌿

Imagine a childhood filled with muddy boots, creek adventures, campfires, wildlife encounters, creative projects, mindfulness, and friendships that grow alongside the trees.

Every Wednesday, our Explorers spend the day learning through hands-on experiences in nature. They build confidence, develop resilience, solve problems, work together, and discover the natural world in ways that simply can’t be replicated indoors.

Whether you’re looking for a weekly alternative to the traditional classroom or you’re a homeschooling family searching for a rich, land-based learning experience, Mindful Explorers provides a welcoming community where children ages 6–12 can truly thrive.

✨ New this fall: Several members of our facilitation team will begin their Forest and Nature School Practitioner training through the Child and Nature Alliance of Canada. We’re excited to bring fresh ideas, new skills, and even more intentional nature-based learning to every Wednesday in the forest. Child and Nature Alliance

It’s been a hot and busy July at the Mindful Explorers Forest and Nature School! ☀️🌳🦌

Yesterday was week six of our program for 6-12 year olds.

We played group games and spent much of the afternoon exploring the river. We saw so many interesting things including this jaw bone!

Our explorers always wind down the day with a guided meditation. Even the busiest bodies get solace in this moment.

Our Fall registration opens next week for both Mindful Explorers (6-12) and Mindful Minis (0-5 plus parent).

Stay tuned!

Week Two of Parent & Child Forest School 🐦🌿

This week, our Mindful Minis stepped into the wonderful world of birds! 🦉

We gathered together for a bird-themed story, played a lively game of Duck, Duck, Goose, practiced deep owl breathing, created bird feeders, and scattered seeds throughout the forest to care for our feathered friends.

Our little explorers built bird nests, sculpted clay eggs, and spent the morning learning through play, creativity, and connection with nature.

Along the way, we were delighted to meet one of our newborn lambs and discover a tiny baby frog. Its incredible camouflage helped it blend perfectly into its surroundings, giving us the opportunity to talk about how animals use camouflage to stay safe in the wild.

After a full morning of exploring, creating, and imagining, we cooled off together in the river.

At Forest School, we practice noticing the world around us - listening to birdsong, watching for tiny creatures, and observing the subtle changes of the seasons. These moments help children develop a sense of wonder, respect for nature, and a deeper connection to the world they call home.

In the forest, every tiny discovery becomes a big lesson. ✨🌲💚

Why learn about frogs in a classroom when you can study life cycles in the real world? 🐸☀️✌️

Mindful Minis starts tomorrow morning! Join us from 9:30-12:30 with your little one aged 5 and under.
