In order to help you guys to relax, and feel the wonderful mood of traditional Chinese festivals, WLUCISA will hold the Lantern Festival indoor temple fair at Paul Martin Centre-Senate And Board Chamber at 7 pm on March 2nd after the Reading Week.
So do you know the Lantern Festival?
Well, the Lantern Festival is intended to be the festival on a night of the first month in a year. In the Western Han Dynasty, Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty worshipped the god "Emperor Taiyi" on this day. Since then, the Lantern Festival has also become a day for people to worship God. During the Eastern Han Dynasty, Buddhism was introduced to China. On the 15th day in the first month, the temples will ignite the lights. In the Lantern Festival, there was a custom of viewing lanterns.
The theme of this temple fair party is “BuJinYe”, it means "No curfew". Because the curfew in the capital "ChangAn" will be cancelled on the Lantern Festival day in the Tang Dynasty. This theme also implies that everyone can take time out to enjoy life in their busy schoolwork.
In this event, you need coins and cash to participate in various games. When you enter the venue, remember to ask the staff to collect them~
Let's take a look at a few representative activities and games at this party!
1.Reunion-make Tangyuan
Tangyuan(Rice ball) is a traditional Chinese festival food, meaning reunion. On the day of the Lantern Festival, friends and relatives will gather together to share it to hope a new year of family reunion and happiness. At our party, there will be lovely girls teach you to make handmade rice balls! Don't forget that the rice balls are not easy to digest, don't eat too much~
2. Calligraphy show
Calligraphy is the most traditional form of Chinese art, and it is a traditional art unique to Chinese characters. We invited a professional "teacher" to teach you to write idioms and verses, as well as greetings.
