Check out these interactive peek-a-boo boards I made for the kiddos at Rae Rae’s Home Daycare! They’re crafted from diaper boxes, wipe lids, and animal pictures—simple materials turned into a fun and educational activity!

🔹 Fine Motor Skills – Little hands get to practice opening and closing the lids, strengthening their fingers and improving hand-eye coordination.
🔹 Cognitive Development – This activity encourages memory skills and problem-solving as children anticipate what’s behind each lid.

📦 From Box to Car🚗
The Magic of Imaginative Play!

At Rae Rae’s Home Daycare, we love turning everyday items into something extraordinary! This morning, we transformed a simple delivery box into a fantastic box car. With just a little cutting and creativity, this big box is now a vehicle for adventure, storytelling, and endless fun!

Imaginative play like this is so important for little minds. It encourages problem-solving, creativity, and social skills as the kids take turns “driving” and making up their own road trip stories. Plus, climbing in and out of the box helps develop gross motor skills like balance, coordination, and spatial awareness! Not to mention, open-ended play builds confidence and independence!

And let’s be real—by the end of the day, this car might be “totaled” in the best way possible. But that’s OKAY! The joy, laughter, and learning that happened along the way are what truly matter.

Sensory Play Fun at Rae Rae’s Home Daycare!

Today, we had a blast exploring taste-safe sensory bins with cooked oatmeal! One bin had a lumpy texture, while the other was smooth, giving the kids a chance to experience different sensations while engaging in imaginative play.

We turned the lumpy brown oatmeal into a prehistoric dinosaur swamp and transformed the smooth green oatmeal into a wild jungle safari! With toy animals, little spoons, and curious hands, the children explored textures, practiced fine motor skills, and had so much fun getting messy in a safe and engaging way.

Sensory play is a fantastic way to encourage learning through touch, sight, and even taste—all while sparking creativity!

At Rae Rae’s Home Daycare we incorporate sign language into our every day routine! We use sign language for babies and for big kids who have language skills already!

Using sign language with babies and young children—even those who can speak—has many benefits that promote overall language, social, and cognitive development. Here are some reasons why it can be especially beneficial:

1. Boosts Early Communication: For babies who can’t yet speak, sign language provides an early way to communicate needs and feelings. Babies can start using simple signs (like “milk” or “more”) as early as 6–9 months, which often helps reduce frustration and tantrums by giving them a way to express themselves.

2. Strengthens Vocabulary and Language Skills: Learning signs can accelerate spoken language development by reinforcing words and meanings. When children pair spoken words with signs, it reinforces memory and helps with vocabulary building, often leading to a larger vocabulary and earlier speech development.

3. Improves Cognitive Skills: Using both hand gestures and words stimulates multiple areas of the brain. Research has shown that children who use sign language may develop stronger problem-solving skills, better spatial reasoning, and higher IQ scores later on.

Our Emergency Action Plan, proudly posted on our corkboard, is just one of the ways we put this commitment into practice. Accompanied by a list of Emergency numbers and our nearest Medical Facilities. You can have peace of mind knowing that your child is in a secure, caring environment where preparedness comes first.

We’ve also posted a Safety Data Sheet for Decon 30 on our corkboard, so parents can feel confident knowing exactly what we’re using to protect their children. As a nurse, I know how crucial it is to use effective and safe cleaning products. That’s why we rely on Decon 30, a non-toxic, hospital-grade disinfectant, to keep our daycare spotless and germ-free for our little ones. This commitment to health and safety is another one of the ways we bring a higher level of care and peace of mind to our daycare.
