The signs of dyslexia we "see", slow reading, spelling mistakes, and letter reversals, are only the surface. ๐Ÿ’›

Beneath them, your child may be carrying so much more: the anxiety of reading out loud, the mental exhaustion of working twice as hard as everyone else, and the quiet voice whispering,โ€œMaybe Iโ€™m just not smart enough".

What we "see" is only a fraction of what they "feel".

Thatโ€™s why meaningful support isnโ€™t just about improving reading skills. Itโ€™s about protecting your childโ€™s confidence and sense of self along the way. When we nurture both, everything changes. ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ“ฉ If your child is struggling, whether itโ€™s visible or hidden, send me a message. Letโ€™s support the whole child, together.

It's easy to look at a page full of spelling mistakes and think "they're just not paying attention."

But here's the truth: spelling errors are rarely about carelessness. They're a window into how your child is processing language and each type of mistake tells a different story.

A word spelled three different ways. Missing sounds. Spelling exactly how it sounds. Flipped letters. These aren't random slips, they're patterns. And once you can read those patterns, you stop seeing a "bad speller" and start seeing a child who simply needs to be taught in a way that fits their brain.

That shift from frustration to understanding changes everything.
๐Ÿ“ฉ If you'd like help making sense of your child's spelling patterns, send me a message. Let's figure out what they're really telling us.

Behind every child's progress is a community that believes in them. ๐Ÿ’›

No child learns to read alone , it takes patient teaching, a supportive family, and organizations working to make sure every child gets the chance to thrive.

I'm proud to support these incredible organizations making a difference for children and families across British Columbia

Most parents have heard of dyslexia. But it's far from the only way a child's brain can learn differently and these differences often show up together.

๐Ÿ“– Dyslexia affects reading and spelling
๐Ÿ”ข Dyscalculia affects numbers and math
โœ๏ธ Dysgraphia affects handwriting and getting thoughts onto paper
๐Ÿคธ Dyspraxia affects coordination and motor planning

Here's what they all share: none of them are about intelligence, effort, or laziness. They're simply differences in how the brain processes certain kinds of information and every one of them responds to the right, targeted support.

If your child struggles in one of these areas, it doesn't mean they're falling behind on who they are. It means they may just need to be taught in a way that fits how they learn. And the earlier that support begins, the more confidently they can grow.

๐Ÿ“ฉ DM me "SUPPORT" if you're wondering what your child's signs might mean. I'd be glad to help you make sense of them.

If you've tried everything and reading still isn't clicking for your child , please hear this: the problem isn't your child. It's the method.

much reading help relies on repetition and guessing. "Sound it out." "Just practice more." But for a dyslexic brain, that advice is like being handed a map in a language they can't read yet. No wonder it doesn't work.

Here's what's different about how I teach: every lesson follows a structured, step-by-step sequence built specifically for how dyslexic brains actually learn to read. It's the Orton-Gillingham approach explicit, multi-sensory, and refined for nearly a century. Nothing random. Nothing skipped.

And the change parents notice isn't just better reading. It's a child who stops guessing and starts reading. Bedtime isn't a battle anymore. A kid who used to hide their homeworkโ€ฆ and now brings it to you first.

Your child doesn't need to try harder. They need the right method.

Dyslexia isn't about intelligence, effort, or something a child "grows out of."
It's one of the most common learning differences in the world affecting about 1 in 5 people and it simply means the brain processes language differently.
The hopeful part? We know exactly what helps. The right approach can turn reading struggles into real confidence.
Your child doesn't need to try harder. They need to be taught differently.
๐Ÿ“Œ Save this and share it with a parent who needs to see it.
๐Ÿ“ฉ If your child needs support, send me a message.

Reading struggles have a way of turning a quiet evening into a battle and no parent wants bedtime to end in frustration. These three small shifts can change the whole dynamic: less pressure, more connection, and a child who slowly starts to believe they can. You don't have to be a reading specialist to help, you just have to make it feel safe to try. ๐Ÿ’›
And if you'd like to hand the "tutor" role to someone else and just be their parent again, I'd love to help.

There's no better feeling than watching a child go from insecure to excited about learning. ๐Ÿ’›
Verena's daughter came in feeling very unsure about her spelling (the kind of self-doubt that can quietly follow a child through school). With a warm, welcoming space and the right support, something shifted. Her confidence grew, and she actually started looking forward to her sessions.
This is exactly why I do what I do. Every child deserves to feel capable and every parent deserves the relief of finding the right fit.
If your child could use a space like this, send me a message. Let's find their perfect fit too.

If your child struggles with reading, back-to-school season can feel less like fresh starts and more like bracing for another hard year. But it doesn't have to be that way.
Here's what most parents don't hear: summer break often widens the reading gap but the weeks before school starts are the single best window to close it. A confident start in September can shift the tone of the entire year.
At Dyslexia Tutoring Online, I meet your child exactly where they are with personalized, Orton-Gillingham lessons that build real reading skills and the confidence to walk into class thinking "I've got this." ๐Ÿ’›
Because every child deserves to start the year feeling capable, not behind.
โœจ Book an assessment and let's build your child's strongest school year yet. Sessions run year-round, and funding options may be available.
