Welcome to the Beta Tau Chapter of ΔΚΕ. We are the Gentlemen, Scholars, and Jolly Good Fellows of UVic's first fraternity.

The UVic chapter of DKE, Beta Tau, was founded in 2010 with the help of Phi Alpha active and alumni members. The first Beta Tau president, Jeffrey Pearson, had participated in Phi Alpha’s Rush on a co-op term at UBC. The 24 founding members of Beta Tau were granted a charter by DKE International on March 27, 2010. Since then, the chapter has been busy with social events, philanthropy projects and attracting new members.

Brothers Van and Kaleb just got back from representing Beta Tau as delegates at the 182nd Delta Kappa Epsilon Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.

They joined over 100 other brothers from across Canada and the US for a weekend packed with growth and connection, diving into sessions on personal finance, job search and networking, and health and safety. The highlight was hearing keynote speaker Teddy Tzanetos, DKE alumnus and former NASA engineer, share his career journey and how DKE shaped it.

Of course, they still made time for fun in Nashville: a Sounds game, legendary hot chicken, and a night out on Broadway.

Huge thanks to Delta Kappa Epsilon for flying our guys out and taking care of them all weekend.

Alumni Spot light: Everett Sprenger

Everett graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry in April 2026 and began his Master’s in Chemistry at the University of Victoria the following month.

His research focuses on developing scalable perovskite photovoltaics with the goal of making renewable solar energy more affordable and accessible. (Photos of solar cells he fabricated featured in slide 3).

In recognition of his research, Everett was recently awarded a scholarship to spend a semester at Kyoto University in Japan in 2027, where he will collaborate with leading researchers in the field of perovskite photovoltaics.

Everett credits much of his success to his experience with DKE. Serving as Treasurer, Vice President, and President helped him develop leadership, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills that proved invaluable during graduate school and scholarship interviews.

Before beginning his master’s degree, he also reached out to DKE’s extensive alumni network, receiving valuable advice and mentorship from alumni who had already navigated graduate school and research careers.

Read the caption below to read about the three pillars we live by here at ΔKE

THE GENTLEMAN
Character, integrity, and respect in everything we do. Being a Deke means holding yourself to a higher standard—on campus, in the community, and beyond.

THE SCHOLAR
Excellence in the classroom and ambition outside it. We push each other to excel academically, grow professionally, and build a strong foundation for the future.

THE JOLLY GOOD FELLOW
Unmatched camaraderie and lifelong bonds. True brotherhood isn’t just for four years—it’s a network and a community for life.

Meet the Deke: Kaleb Bagrowicz✈️

Just finished his first year at UVic, majoring in Economics. He holds a Commercial Pilot’s license, with aspirations of flying for an airline in the near future. His dream is to fly the 787 Dreamliner or the 777, seeing different oceans and continents on a regular basis.

He initially rushed DKE to meet new people, not knowing anyone from Victoria. “I had great conversations and felt a quick connection with numerous brothers, which made me want to join the fraternity.” DKE has given him the opportunity to create lasting friendships and build a skillset that truly helps him across numerous aspects of life. He’s beyond excited for his future with this great fraternity, and to take on leadership roles in the coming years. 🛩️

Year in review from our 2024/25 DKE Sweetheart Sam King:

Cheers to another year with the boys of Beta Tau!
I am truly honored to have spent this past year sharing laughs and making memories with such a kind and outgoing group of guys! I have seen this chapter welcome new members, celebrate graduates, face challenges, and create traditions, all with so much passion and perseverance. Going into my final year of university, I am forever grateful to our Greek life community and the efforts our organizations have put in.

From the late nights and inside jokes, to the endless support and the moments I’ll replay forever, thank you for making this year so special. You’ve shown me what true brotherhood looks like, and I feel so lucky to have been a small part of it.

This chapter of men has done nothing but make me proud to be their sweetheart and proud to be their friend. Forever cheering you on!

Xoxo & ITB,
Sam

Thank you for all the extra effort you have put in to helping us succeed Sam, it most certainly does not go unnoticed.
