How did your honey season go? What kind of honey do you harvest in your area? Have you ever considered getting your honey analyzed to find out the different flower sources + the % of each in your honey?? Thereβs a lot of lavender and blackberry in my area, along with a wide variety of wildflowers and herbs in neighbouring gardens.
This is from just a few days on one of my hives :) Do you know what it is? Itβs a propolis trap! When all the holes are filled in by bees, I can freeze this sheet and then twist the mat like an ice cube tray to release all of the little pieces of propolis. It is sticky when warm and brittle when cold.

I think this might be considered a bumper crop year, especially by island standards πππ―π After harvesting no honey from my hives last year, and leaving them everything they produced (which was not a whole lot) this season has been quite a contrast. Iβve done three small harvests and have left lots of honey on the hives to make sure they have plenty of stores to eat through in case of draught, and to keep winter time stores secured without feeding sugar syrup.

Poor manβs orchid. Such a cute flower! The bumblebees seem to enjoy it. I looove seeing them go inside a flower and see their little butts with pollen on their legs πΌ π
