The STAR Women's Network Inc. is excited to women's achievements in all works of life alongside and organizations, communities, governments, and institutions worldwide.

Though the entire month of March is recognized as Women's History Month, the and institutions worldwide celebrate IWD on March 8 of every year. It is a day we acknowledge and applaud the achievements and contributions of in the cultural, social, economic, and political development of the world.

Since the first celebration in 1911, the world has advanced in gender-inclusive decisions, but we are nowhere near where we want to be. There's a lot more to be done to "forge a more gender-equal world."
These past two years have slowed down the progress previously made and revealed the continuing struggle and women face in reaching their maximum potential.

Recent research published by the shed light on the challenges and inequality women face in different parts of the world, as heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This year, we are called to challenge the status quo, speak truth to power, and the bias and barriers hindering women from reaching successful heights.

As always, we at the STAR women's Network Inc. are committed to highlighting the works of women and amplifying their voices through March!

What action are you taking to forge a more gender-equal world? What is your organization or community doing to empower and advance equality in your community, organization or workplace?

Join us on March 5 to celebrate and highlight these points and discuss ways to move women forward and upward in business and leadership.

Meet our Black History Month STARblazer of the Week!

Rachel (Rae) Massop, RSW, MSW, BSW, BAPsych is the founder and CEO of Aworie Health and Wellness Services and Tea Cup Vogue. She holds a Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto, highly skilled in business planning, management, digital marketing and leadership. Massop is a serial entrepreneur with a history of work in the health, wellness and e-commerce industries.

According to Massop, "one of the most glaring and seemingly intractable challenges for healthcare entrepreneurs today is the absence of health equity inpatient/client populations." She is a Canadian health equity advocate and registered social worker dedicated to promoting mental wellness for marginalized communities. Her company, Aworie Health and Wellness Services, provides mental health services to individuals, couples, and families at a rate-geared-to-income.

Massop's severe economic hardship as a youth led to prolonged depression and other mental health concerns inspired her to focus her career on health equity promotion. When she sought mental health counselling as a youth, she faced barriers including long wait lists, inadequate short-term and unaffordable counselling services. Consequent to her personal experiences and the high demand for reduced-rate counseling services among BIPOC and low-income populations, she founded Aworie Health and wellness services.

She recognizes that health equity promotion is a multi-factorial and cross-sectional agenda that requires counsel and community support. Through leadership initiatives, Massop has established multiple partnerships with BIPOC-owned private counselling practices to support and promote sliding scale (reduced-rate) fee structures.

Massop is empowered by her Black ethno-racial roots. She facilitates crucial conversations about disparities in healthcare. Ultimately, she and her team at Aworie have a continuous mission towards
promoting and providing mental health counselling that will enable marginalized individuals to thrive in their community.

Her favorite quote is:
"Health cannot be a question of income; it is a fundamental human right."- Nelson Mandela.

Emily Rodger is a Public Speaker, Certified Executive Coach, former Elite Cyclist, and avid Outdoors woman. Raised in New Brunswick, Canada, along with my three sisters, sports were not part of my life until adulthood. After working as a dental hygienist, she pursued her passion for triathlon and cycling. In her full first year of bike racing, she competed in 21 races, which included 17 podiums, 14 1st place finishes, a National masters title, and a World Masters title in Time Trial. Before long, she was racing in the professional peloton.

But along with her success in cycling/triathlon came more than a few hardships. She was involved in two severe cycling crashes where she was struck by vehicles, resulting in multiple broken bones, a brain injury, and extensive soft tissue damage. Emily knows how it feels to be shattered, both mentally and physically. But no matter how broken she was or felt, she believed that there is always a way out of our darkest places.

These life-altering events made her a stronger, more resilient, more grounded, and more grateful person. When she was mentally struggling with the trauma she experienced, Emily focused on what truly brought joy to her life and came to a greater understanding and acceptance of her true self, what she values, and what makes her tick.
She took a step back from racing professionally to pursue all that genuinely brought her joy. As a result, she developed her passion for coaching others through their own difficult seasons and helping them achieve their biggest goals. Emily believes joy is found when we stop chasing that circumstantial happiness and set our minds on something truly extraordinary.
Cadence: Breaking Rhythm and Finding Pace, the short film on Emily's story, is on the festival circuit now.

Join us on March 5th at 12PM Eastern to gain valuable insights on how to triumph despite tough life challenges and circumstances that may dare to limit your ability to succeed.
