This month, it’s time to switch roles! Invite your child to pretend to be the teacher and create their very own “at-home classroom.” 📚✏️

Let them decide what they want to teach you—whether it’s a favourite classroom activity, a song, something they’ve learned, or even their own made-up lesson!

Playing teacher gives children a fun opportunity to share what they’ve learned, practice communication and leadership, and build confidence while giving families a little glimpse into what stands out to them during their school day. 🌱💛

🧡 September 30 marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities. It is also an opportunity to listen, learn, reflect, and continue conversations about Canada’s history and the importance of reconciliation.

📚✨ Author Spotlight of the Month ✨📚

This month, we’re featuring I Like This, You Like That by Linda Ashman, illustrated by Eve Coy—a sweet, rhyming story about friendship, differences, and finding common ground. 💛

Kindness and courtesy are at the heart of Montessori education. From offering a friend a turn to saying “excuse me” when passing, children practice kindness in small, consistent ways that shape how they treat others — and themselves.

A long-term study highlighted by UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center followed children from childhood into adulthood. Those who showed more pro-social skills — like helping, sharing, and cooperating — were more likely to succeed in school and work and less likely to face serious challenges and troubles later in life. Teaching kindness today truly supports their future tomorrow.
