The lesson was all about “Aking Pamilya at Kaibigan,” and grabe—ang energy ng mga bata! 🔥 These second-gen Filipino kids were all in, especially sa crowd-favorite “Nanay, Tatay” game 😄

Sa Filipino School (Intermediate level), learning doesn’t feel like “class”—it feels like play. Habang tumatawa at naglalaro, napapractice nila ang Filipino vocabulary and nagiging mas confident sila magsalita.

Ito yung goal: raising kids who are proud of their roots, connected sa language at culture, and building friendships along the way. 💛🇵🇭

If you’ve ever wondered kung paano maipapasa ang Filipino identity sa next generation—this is one way. Start them young, make it fun, and watch them thrive. ✨

One year later, we gather in quiet remembrance.

We offer Atang — an ancient practice from our pre-colonial ancestors in the islands now known as the Philippines — as a gesture of love, grief, and memory. Food, flowers, prayers… small offerings carrying the weight of what words cannot hold.

For those who lost their lives.
For those who were injured.
For the families and community who continue to carry this loss.

May these offerings reach you.
May they honour your names, your stories, your spirits.
May they hold space for the pain that remains, and the love that does not leave.

We remember. We mourn. We stand together.

☁️ Alapaap 2026 ☁️

What began as a vision became a powerful reality—a gathering that uplifted the voices, stories, and spirit of Filipino youth across British Columbia. From moving performances to meaningful conversations, every moment reminded us of the strength, brilliance, and leadership within our community—especially among our youth, who carry the future we are building together.

To the panelists, performers, and speakers—maraming salamat. Your courage to share, to lead, and to inspire created a space that felt both grounding and expansive.

To everyone who showed up, who held space, who listened, and who connected—thank you for making this day unforgettable. This is only the beginning. Events like Alapaap remind us of the importance of nurturing our youth—through mentorship, leadership, and collective care. They serve as a powerful affirmation that our sky is the limit, and our future is brighter than ever. As we continue to grow in a new land and navigate complex realities, we also confront and heal from generational barriers. Spaces like this allow us to support one another, to rise together, and to move forward with intention.

To the Alapaap organizing team—saludo kami sa inyo. Your dedication, heart, and hard work made this possible. We are excited for what’s to come and look forward to the next Alapaap.

Para sa sarili. Para sa kabataan. Para sa komunidad. Para sa kinabukasan.

Huminga ka nang malalim—at tayo’y lalarga.
