Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, we honour the survivors of residential schools and those who didn’t make it home, as well as their families and communities, and we commemorate the history and legacy of residential schools.
The lasting consequences for Indigenous individuals and families affected are not contained within a day and so we continue to acknowledge the thee eat (truth) of our country’s history as we take action to eradicate Indigenous-specific racism in the health care system. Please join us in acknowledging this day and working toward reconciliation through action. Together we can build a truly safe and equitable health care system where everyone feels welcome.
