As one of the three arrow/dragon tiles in mahjong, the green 發 tile has a few meanings. In general, the arrow/dragon tiles reference concepts in ancient Chinese culture related to archery + Confucian virtues. The 發 character is a part of the saying, 發財, which means "get rich" but it also represents an archer releasing their draw + the Confucian virtue of sincerity + trustworthiness. While mahjong is a game played by many, it's also inherently Chinese, steeped in cultural context. Do we all need to be experts in MJ history to enjoy the game? No. But knowing there is a history is mindful + appreciated.

The most feng shui fish out there, Koi represent abundance, perseverance and strength. The most expensive one ever sold was $1.8 million USD, so... yes, it did indeed bring abundance to the person who sold it 😂
