2021-2022 Event Recap 🤍✨

With our last event of the term yesterday, we thought a walk down memory lane would be a good SISU send off 🦋

Thank you all for making our SISU 2021-2022 school year so special! From hiking and kayaking to yoga and dance classes to book club and trivia nights, we have had such a fun and meaningful year embracing movement and celebrating bravery, confidence, and resilience. Here's a look back at some of our favourite memories from this school year.

Join us on Saturday, April 23 @ 1pm at Jericho Beach Kayak Centre for an afternoon of water adventure!

SISU SPRING SWIM

Bringing back the beach socials…but this time we swim for real!

When: This Friday, April 1st (no, this is not a prank!) @ 5pm
Where: Jericho Beach by the concession stand

We started off the term with our beloved beach hangs so we thought it would be fitting to close out the term with a swim!

Bring some snacks, a bathing suit, towels, and something warm to change into!

This Friday, March 25 via zoom!

Alongside the wellness peers, test your knowledge about topics related to s*xual health and s*xuality and increase your s*xual health literacy. Topics range from s*x education, pop culture, pleasure and much more. We want to work toward breaking down barriers to navigate conversation around s*xual health.

SISU BOOK CLUB + DONATION COLLECTION

We’re back for another month of book club! This month we’re talking all things body positivity 🤍 If you are able, please read the essays in advance to help our conversation be as rich as possible!

In this month’s book club, we will also be collecting book donations for !The Van Black Library is a not-for-profit library run by Black and BIPOC organizers, dedicated to Black and BIPOC community members.

All genres and any condition of books are welcome for donation! Though, if you can provide, these are more specified donation requests: Black revolutionary texts, work by Black authors, and children’s books.

SISU CYCLE 🚴‍♀️

Join us on Sunday, March 6 for an hour to cycle along the sea wall!

Meet at 10:30 am by the Jericho Beach concession shack. From there, we will bike to Granville island (and maybe stop for a coffee and donut break 🍩 ) before returning back to Jericho.

Please note that this event is weather dependent.

Come be our study buddies!

To end February we have booked a SISU study session. Come join us in the nest and we can hit the books together!

Join us in Room 2508 in the Nest from 12:00-2:00pm on Monday, February 28th

Additionally, On Monday, February 28th we will be collecting donations for the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre. Please bring donations of shoes, clothing, blankets and bedding, etc. and SISU will donate on your behalf!

These items are urgently needed as we finish the cold winter season, so please consider donating. Thank you!

Looking for a fun reading break activity?

Join us for a snowshoe adventure on Wednesday, February 23 from 11-3pm!

This beginner friendly event is a great excuse to explore Squamish, ride the sea to sky gondola, and snowshoe the mountain! ☁️🏔

The cost of this event is $50 which includes snowshoe rental and round-trip gondola tickets (originally $75 value)!

Participants are expected to find their own means of transportation. There are various shuttle services that can be found on Google
