Full Marathon checked off the bucket list! โ
After making a disheartening choice to not attend the in-person race after my injury and switching to virtual, I finally took the sunny window of opportunity to go and do my marathon. Amongst all the physical activity I do, I must say that this was the most physically and mentally draining event I have done in a long time. During my run, I had some reflections about my marathon experience, and I wanted to share my thoughts here ๐
1. Create small milestones for things that you want to achieve during the run, and the key is ensuring theyโre realistic and use it as a motivator;
2. Donโt forget to look ahead to avoid traffic jams and slowing your pace, especially when thereโs a lot of people walking both ways;
3. Have deliberate breaks to drink water or to get a good stretch in after youโve been in the same rhythm for a while now;
4. Make sure all your devices are fully charged for things like your music, and especially your phone so that people know where you are;
5. Take care of yourself and know what your limits are and donโt push them, even if that means that you donโt meet your goals or milestones โ your health is most important, and it will be a great achievement regardless of the results! ๐

Did a lot of running over the weekend, and I'm glad that I managed to do the virtual and in-person Vancouver Sun Run experiences this year! Training slowed down a lot in the past month, but a lot of self-care and support from everyone means the world to me! Onwards to the next race and the upcoming ! โ๏ธ
