“The Embodiment Foundations course with Hana has provided me with new ways to center, physically and mentally. I now have many tools for getting in touch with and listening to my body, and for creating meaningful and functional movements in both dance and everyday life. The experiential anatomy component of Embodiment Foundations has been especially powerful for me. Through guided visualizations, verbal and hands-on support, and movement prompts, Hana helped me begin to understand the complexity and beauty of my own Body Systems. My best work was in the retreat portion of the class, where we gathered in person on Salt Spring Island for four days to practice embodiment in dance and movement. I created a “life dance,” in which I used movement phrases to express significant moments, experiences, and ways of being throughout my life so far. I applied many aspects of what I’ve learned so far to this creation, including Laban’s Dimensional Scale and Efforts. This was a profound and moving experience, and I look forward to using it again as a way to reflect on my life, relationships, challenges, growth, and accomplishments. It was powerful to be witnessed in sharing my dance that was created totally by me from my own experiences. It’s so exciting to be now more connected with my body every day! “

Join our Embodiment Foundations Retreat on August 22-25 in this beautiful studio surrounded by quiet forest at Honest Farms on Saltspring Island! Would you like to rejuvenate and find some more bliss and health through embodiment? What will you learn? Here's a breakdown of each day:
-Each morning begins with Hatha Yoga and gentle movement for half an hour. Followed by class themes: 9:30-4:30 (with lunch)
-Grounding, Centering, Resourcing in Curiosity and Compassion (Class 1)
-Understanding/Strengthening Developmental Movement Patterning for Body Connectivity (Class 2)
-Body Mapping and Cultivating Mindfulness of Body (Class 3)
