Thanks to everyone who came out for our **Champs Tournament!** 🏆⚔️

The past few days have been an absolute blast! It was incredible to see so much skill, determination, and great fencing on display. From exciting matches to some fantastic guest appearances (Anna, DWARF), it truly made this a tournament to remember.

A huge thank you to everyone who competed, supported, coached, volunteered, and helped make the event such a success. We couldn’t have done it without you!

It’s been 5 years.

Five years ago, we turned a box into a circus and a sword salle. We used scrap wood we found on the streets, furniture that nobody wanted, and whatever we could get our hands on. We started with almost nothing, but we made it work.

Five years later, that little five-student basement club has grown into a full-time school with 50–60 students.

And now, sadly, this week will be our last week in the place we’ve called home.

It’s time to say goodbye.

I’ll be honest, I’ve been pretty emotional lately. This place has meant a lot to me, and leaving it weighs heavily on my heart. There are so many memories in those walls, and it’s hard to say goodbye to something we built from the ground up.

But this isn’t the end. It’s a new beginning.

We’re downsizing for a while and starting a new chapter, with two new locations. We’ll be renting community centres and school gyms, which will actually give us bigger spaces to work with.

Our focus is also evolving. We’ll be putting a greater emphasis on sport fencing, especially epee and sabre, and historical fencing for adults, including rapier, smallsword, and sabre.

What’s that saying? "Two steps back, five steps forward"? I’m not sure if it’s five steps forward yet, but I definitely feel like we’re heading in the right direction.

My personal goal is to help our young fencers reach the highest levels possible. To create more amazing fencers to represent Newfoundland at the Canada Games, then compete at nationals, and eventually make their way onto the international stage.

So, goodbye to our old home.

Thank you for the memories, the laughter, the bruises, the victories, the failures, and every person who helped make that little basement club into what it became.

There’s only up from here.

The next chapter starts now.

The countless hours of training, dedication, and perseverance have paid off, and I couldn't be more proud of everything you've accomplished. Watching your growth as athletes has been an incredible privilege.

As a coach, I honestly couldn't be prouder. Thank you both for trusting me, pushing yourselves every day, and inspiring me to become the best coach I can be. This is only the beginning, go represent Newfoundland with pride. We're all behind you!

My four year old daughter asked to come to the salle today to train. Today we decided to put a white jacket on her and formally train her. She didn't take the jacket off until she got home.
