The Medieval Inn That Has Welcomed Travellers for 600 Years | The George 06/05/2026

NEW VIDEO OUT TODAY 😃
If you could spend one night in any historic building, where would it be and why? We spent the night at a stunning, medieval inn - The George Inn - Norton St Philip
For over six centuries, travellers, merchants, soldiers, rebels and even famous figures have passed through its doors. During our visit, we went beyond the public spaces to explore its ancient rooms and even gained access to a hidden part of the building that visitors never get to see.
If you enjoy the everyday side of history—the places where ordinary people ate, drank, slept and shared stories—then I think you'll enjoy this one.
A huge thanks to the management and staff, we had a fabulous stay and the food was absolutely gorgeous. Highly recommended

Hever Castle was Anne Boleyn's childhood home, and on this day in 1533 she was crowned Queen of England. Her coronation marked the triumph of Henry VIII's break with Rome—but it was only the beginning of a story that would end in tragedy.

What was a medieval arrow doing hidden inside Westminster Abbey — and does it really have anything to do with Henry V? We contacted Westminster Abbey Library to uncover the truth behind this remarkable 500-year-old artifact.

They Found a Medieval Arrow INSIDE Westminster Abbey
 And It's Not What You'd Expect 05/29/2026

Did you know that a real medieval arrow was discovered inside Westminster Abbey?
For years, stories circulated that it might have been connected to Henry V or one of the famous bowmen of Agincourt. As an archer and historian, I couldn't resist digging into the evidence to find out what was actually true. The result was one of the most fascinating little historical mysteries I've investigated.

This is an older History Squad video that many of our newer subscribers may never have seen, so we thought it deserved another look.

Have you watched it before? And before you do... what do YOU think? Was the arrow connected to Henry V, or is the truth even more surprising?

Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk doesn’t feel like a typical war movie — it throws you directly into the terror, confusion, and desperation of evacuation with almost no exposition. And that realism wasn’t accidental.

Nolan famously avoided heavy CGI, using real RAF Spitfires flown by actual pilots, alongside surviving 1940s vessels and genuine Dunkirk “little ships” that were there in 1940. Even the beaches of Dunkirk itself became the backdrop for the film’s ground scenes, with actors dressed entirely in authentic period uniforms.

It’s this obsession with authenticity that makes Dunkirk feel so different from most modern war films. But despite all the historical detail, some moments still lean more toward cinematic fantasy than historical fact.

So what do you think — is Dunkirk one of the most realistic war films ever made, or did Hollywood still take too many liberties with history?

Wales has over 600 castles
but most tourists have never heard of these three.

Hidden along the Welsh border, White Castle, Grosmont, and Skenfrith formed a medieval security system built to defend the Welsh marches from rebellion and invasion. Together, they became known as “The Three Castles.”

Forgotten by many today — but once some of the most important strongholds in Wales.
