Last evening, we gathered with our Board, staff and community stakeholders to reflect on a year of change, innovation and meaningful impact.

Our Annual General Meeting was a time to celebrate the people and partnerships at the heart of our work, reflect on a year of significant transition and achievement, and look to the opportunities ahead for Futureworx.

As our CEO, Randy Lindsay, shared in his report: “The year has reinforced a defining truth about Futureworx: disruption creates opportunity for those who are prepared. We are prepared!”

Thank you to everyone who continues to believe in our work, work alongside us, and help create opportunities for the people and communities we serve.

That's how close we are to representing Canada at WorldSkills Conference 2026 in Shanghai.

Our story starts in 1984, in Truro, Nova Scotia ~ a small team with one purpose: helping people identify their strengths, build skills, and achieve success in school, work, and life.

Along the way, we saw a gap. Employers consistently rank social and emotional skills among their top hiring priorities, but there was no reliable way to assess or develop them in adult training. So, in 2014, we built the Employability Skills Assessment Tool [ESAT] to close it ~ because skills like attitude, accountability, confidence, and adaptability aren't "soft." They're the foundation everything else is built on.

This September, that same practice-built belief is taking Futureworx to the inaugural Skills CoLab at WorldSkills Conference 2026, where CEO Randy Lindsay will join Skills Canada / Compétences Canada CEO Shaun Thorson to talk about measuring social and emotional competencies on a global stage.

Fifteen days from now, Nova Scotia-built innovation takes that stage.

Nova Scotia to the World 🌍

Nova Scotia isn't just where this story started ~ it's why it works.

Futureworx is a social-purpose organization based in Truro, Nova Scotia; a community-based charity that has spent more than 40 years working alongside people, employers and communities. Listening. Learning. Identifying gaps. And building practical solutions that help people develop the skills they need to succeed in work and in life.

COMPLETE360 grew from that work. Shaped by real people, real challenges and decades of practice right here in Nova Scotia.

And now, that work has been recognized on a global stage. Selected from more than 130 applications across 35 countries, Futureworx is heading to the inaugural Skills CoLab at WorldSkills Conference 2026 in Shanghai this September.

Local roots. Global relevance.

But stats and stages only tell part of the story. The real proof is in the people our tools were built for. Growth starts with self-awareness. Real people, experiencing that growth for themselves. That's what's behind the research, the evidence, and the tools.

That's the story we're bringing to Shanghai. Not just a framework; real people, real growth, real results. From Nova Scotia to the world.

Today, members of our Board’s Bursary Committee had the pleasure of presenting Michael Dunkerley with his 2026 Dale Morrow Bursary!

Established by the Futureworx Board of Directors in 2015, the bursary honours the legacy of long-time Board Member and Chair Dale Morrow, whose belief in lifelong learning and the power of education to create opportunity continues to live on through this award.

Michael is a client of our Truro Nova Scotia Works Centre, and is currently enrolled in the Natural Resources Environmental Technology program at NSCC Truro Campus.

Michael is one of three recipients of the 2026 Dale Morrow Bursary, alongside Reham Khaled Al Radi and Chandler Bennett. We’re pleased to support each of them as they continue pursuing education and training ~ carrying forward the spirit of lifelong learning at the heart of Dale Morrow’s legacy.

Thinking about a career as a Paramedic?

Join us for an Emergency Health Services - EHS Information Session and learn what it takes to build a rewarding career serving communities across Nova Scotia.

Paramedics today do far more than respond to emergencies. They work in a variety of urban and rural settings, including community paramedicine, collaborative emergency centres, emergency preparedness, and specialized response teams.

Today, on Emancipation Day, we honour the courage, resilience, and determination of those who fought to end slavery.

We reflect on the past, recognize the lasting impacts of anti-Black racism, and celebrate the many contributions African Nova Scotians continue to make in our communities, workplaces, and across our province.

At Futureworx, we believe that building inclusive communities begins with understanding our shared history and creating opportunities where everyone can thrive. Today, and every day, we remain committed to fostering equity, respect, and belonging for all.
