General information

The Theory of Holes is a philosophical Rosetta Stone. It is the key that for the first time makes the language of science coherent to spiritual thinkers, and the world of spiritual thought coherent and meaningful to those who value science, logic and reason above all.

It does this by starting from a basic, fundamental premise, acceptable to all, and working out the necessary implications of that premise, step by rigorously logical step.

Yet the vistas which this logical progression opens up to the reader are astounding. The book deals with matters on the grandest scale -- politics, economics, physics, religion, even the possibility of immortality -- as well as on the smallest scale, that of every man or woman's daily life.

The chapter on economics and capitalism will prove particularly illuminating -- not just for academics and experts, but for the vast majority of readers. The Theory not only identifies the basic flaw, shared by all the various schools of economics up to now -- Marxist, Keynesian, neoliberalist, etc. -- it also shows how the competing solutions they propose actually make our economic problems worse, not better. In so doing, the Theory proposes its own innovative solution, in a new economic system beyond Capitalism, and offers a practical strategy for achieving it.
The author takes us with her on this intellectual journey, in a plain, candid, yet engaging style. There are points where she ventures to speculate, cautiously and restrainedly, but she always lets the reader know where those points are. Otherwise, she confines herself to a straight path, logically unfolding the Theory to her readers, as if the Theory were explaining itself to her, and to us. She even explains why the title is the most appropriate one possible, despite the risqué connotations it will suggest for many people!

The Theory of Holes is the Rosetta Stone that finally makes the two worlds of human understanding comprehensible to one another. Readers of a scientific frame of mind who have, despite themselves, felt an intimation of a reality beyond the grasp of reason alone -- as well as those readers more spiritually inclined, who nevertheless respect the pragmatism and achievements of human reason -- will both embrace this book with enthusiasm and even a sense of relief, as for the rain after a very long drought.
