Not only today, on National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, but every day, our thoughts are with the victims and survivors of residential schools. We stand in solidarity with them, demanding that Justin Trudeau, and all of our Canadian politicians, corporations operating on Turtle Island, and individual citizens act upon the 94 Calls to Action outlined in Justice Murray Sinclaire's Truth and Reconciliation Commission Summary Report from 2015 to facilitate reconciliation.

Redwing Institute ran it's first large group team-building program yesterday, as part of the Diversity & Inclusion initiative, with the staff of the Boys and Girls Club of East Scarborough. It's our first big group since the pandemic began in 2020. It was so nice to host such a lovely group of people in the Humber on a spectacular day!

We've had the absolute pleasure of partnering with Jeffrey Kiyoshk Ross, since mid-September, to deliver a highly engaging, educational outdoor experiential learning program with an entire student body of Grade 7 boys.

Jeffrey was able to provide a first-person Indigenous perspective, share his vast amount of knowledge and respond thoughtfully to the boys' questions regarding Indigenous history, topics related to Truth & Reconciliation and insight regarding the residential school system.

We could not have asked for a more knowledgeable, relatable, and powerful speaker to share his perspective and shape the minds and hearts of Canada's future leaders.

Chi-miigwech Jeffrey! We always learn something new every time we get the opportunity to listen to you speak. We look forward to collaborating again with you in the near future.

This was the last of our 7-week outdoor education program with the Grade 7's at Upper Canada College, as part of their week with the school's Norval Outdoor School. Thank you so much for the opportunity to work with your incredible educators and students. And we love the gratitude gift of the Norval-made honey and maple syrup!

This past weekend, we came across this couple and their dog enjoying the great outdoors. It looked like the fire was keeping them all toasty warm!
Did you get outside and spend some time in nature on the weekend? If yes, then where did you go?

Today, and every day, we stand in solidarity with our many Indigenous partners, their families, friends and colleagues. As Indigenous allies, since our inception in 2015, we have spent time listening and learning about the lived experiences of the people of Turtle Island. On this first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation we take time to reflect on the past and consider how we can move forward in a positive way by combining education and action, while employing compassion, humility and respect.
