MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS: RON DEMEDA
Ron Demeda [Роман Демеда] is a long-standing instructor of bandura in the Toronto area. Ron is currently the Musical and Educational Director of the St. Demetrius Bandura School in Etobicoke where he has been providing lessons to students of all ages for the last 35+ years. In addition to providing bandura instruction at the St. Demetrius Bandura School (1986-present), Ron has also led bandura lessons at the St. Vladimir Institute in Toronto (1989-1994), St. Sophia in Mississauga (1989-1990), as well as the UNO West Ridna Shkola in Toronto (1989-1991).
As an instructor, Ron provides instruction in a variety of playing techniques, through a progression of technical exercises and instrumental pieces. Ron encourages the learning of songs from a variety of musical genres including traditional Ukrainian, as well as classical, contemporary and popular music.
As a bandura soloist, Ron has performed at countless events in the Toronto area and beyond, including concerts across Southern Ontario, New York, Vegreville Alberta, and at the Chervona Ruta festival in Ukraine. For many years, Ron performed at Toronto’s International Caravan Festival’s Odessa, Kiev, and Kolomaya pavilions, and also performed as a regular at the Ukrainian Caravan Restaurant in Toronto.
In addition to performing with the St. Demetrius Bandura Ensemble, Ron has performed with the Barvinok Bandura ensemble under Mr. Petro Boris, the Hnat Khotkevych Bandurists’ Ensemble and Bandura Quartet under director Walentina Rodak, and is also a member of the Canadian Bandurist Capella

MEET OUR INSTRUCTORS: MYKOLA PYSKIR
Mykola Pyskir is a music educator, conductor, and multi-instrumentalist. His musical journey began when he started studying violin with Terry Hrab. A year later, he began playing piano with Professor Mia Bach of the University of Toronto.
Mykola is proficient in the bandura and plays with the Canadian Bandurist Capella. He has performed as a pianist and accordionist for several music groups and projects.
In 2021, he received his undergraduate degree in Music Education from the University of Toronto and will begin teacher’s college at Western University in London, Ontario in the Fall of 2022.
Mykola is the conductor of Predyvo Liturgical Choir at St. Demetrius Orthodox Church in Toronto.
