The deceased is in need of your prayers and in need of good deeds, so how can you ask him for help?
As The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Ongoing Charity, a knowledge which is beneficial, or a righteous child who prays for him (for the deceased)."
and Allah Almighty says in the Quran:
"Never think of those martyred in the cause of Allah as dead. In fact, they are alive with their Lord, well provided for" (Quran 3:169)
They are provided for by Allah and are weak and unable to provide for themselves.
