What a weekend 💛

Every year, we invite Camp Gedi families and caregivers to join us for a weekend camping getaway at Haute Goat Farm. It’s a chance for kids to visit the animals and explore the farm, and parents get to join in on all the social-emotional learning activities.

This year was truly magical. Watching everyone play, create, explore, and simply be together reminded us just how special the Camp Gedi community is.

A huge thank you to the incredible team at Haute Goat Farm for welcoming us and helping make this weekend so memorable. We’re so grateful for the space, the hospitality, and all the little moments of joy you helped create for our families.

Here’s to more days of togetherness, curiosity, and community. 🌿🐐

CAMP ROLL CALL 📣 Week 2, you were a good one.

On the surface: ducks, tree climbing, puppets, big laughs and very serious Bee Projects.

Underneath it all, we were exploring some much bigger questions: Who am I? What makes me feel like I belong? What helps me feel seen, valued and comfortable being exactly who I am?

And there was a noticeable difference this week. Campers came back to people they knew, projects they cared about, and a community that was beginning to feel like theirs.

We spend so much of our lives surrounded by people our own age. But there’s something powerful that happens when generations get to learn from one another.

Today at CommunitiCare Health , campers spent the morning alongside members of the Senior Social group — knitting, crocheting, drawing, talking, and sharing what they knew.

At Gedi, we believe bridging communities means breaking down the invisible lines that keep us apart — including age. Because when we make space for generations to learn from each other, everyone has something to gain.

Our August cohort is off to a magical start! 🌿

We spent the day at Humber River Park with our campers, where they spent over an hour searching for tiny creatures, collecting treasures, skipping rocks, and discovering the world at their own pace.

At Camp Gedi, we believe nature is one of the best teachers. That’s why time for unstructured play and exploration is at the heart of our approach to learning. When children have the freedom to follow their curiosity, they learn to trust themselves, connect with others, and make sense of the world around them.

Just like that, our July cohort has come to an end. 💚

Over the past few weeks, we've watched campers make new friends, try new things, ask big questions, and discover just how much their community has to offer. From muddy shoes and nature walks to Community Week adventures across Toronto, every moment reminded us that some of the most meaningful learning happens through play and curiosity.

To our campers, thank you for spending the summer with us. Together, we climbed trees, chased bugs, made music, asked big questions, explored our city, and found moments of wonder in places we might have otherwise walked right past.

It has been a joy to watch each child grow in confidence, creativity, and belonging.

This camp would not have been possible without the generosity of our funders, and support from our community partners and local businesses who opened their doors and welcomed our campers with such care. Thank you for believing in our mission and helping us create spaces where children can thrive.

And to our amazing staff, volunteers, and families—thank you for showing up each day with patience, energy, and heart. You are the village behind Camp Gedi.

As we wrap up one unforgettable cohort, we're already looking ahead to the next. We can't wait to welcome a new group of campers in August and do it all over again.

This week, camp left the park and headed into the community. 🌿

Community Week is all about helping our campers discover that learning can happen anywhere. Whether they were making music in High Park, exploring local parks, pouring candles at Kandl, learning illustration techniques at Another Story Bookshop, or sharing stories with residents at Delmanor, every stop became an opportunity to build curiosity and connection.

When children learn alongside their community, they're doing so much more than trying new activities. They're learning how to ask questions, build relationships, navigate new environments, and see themselves as part of something bigger. These everyday moments help nurture the confidence, empathy, and social-emotional skills they'll carry with them long after camp ends.

We're incredibly grateful to the local businesses, organizations, and community members who welcomed us with open arms. Thank you for helping us show our campers that their neighbourhood is full of people who inspire them to learn, create, and belong.

The best parts of camp are rarely the big events; they're often found in the quiet, everyday moments where connection has room to grow.

Take a peek through our camera roll and see some of the little moments that made us smile this week. While camp was filled with adventures, games, and plenty of excitement, we're just as drawn to the small moments that often go unnoticed. The conversations and support between friends. The helping hands. The quiet discoveries. The spontaneous laughter. These are the moments that quietly caught our eye and remind us that community is built one small interaction at a time.
