It was wonderful to see over 40 conductors and choral singers at our first RCCO Toronto Centre event of 2026: Deep River: A Workshop on Afrocentric Sacred Repertoire with Brainerd Blyden-Taylor.
We are especially grateful to Christ Church Deer Park for allowing us the use of their beautiful space (which is available as a rehearsal, concert and event venue at affordable rates).
Special thanks also to all the RCCO volunteers who supported this event, and to collaborative pianist Conrad Gold and guest choral musicians Kaisha Lee, Karen Weigold, Ben Macdonald and Andrew Gunpath.
It was a joy to explore many afro-centric sacred choral pieces including several by the Canadian great Nathaniel Dett, all just in time for Black History Month.

The program features works by the great organ virtuoso Rolande Falcinelli, professor of organ at the Paris Conservatoire and the first woman to hold a titular organist position at one of the major churches in Paris (at Sacré Cœur).
