Not everything valuable is new. Not everything overlooked is forgotten.
Everyone wants what’s new whether that’s the latest hack of performance, the newest training method, or the next big thing.
Today, I went looking for what’s been overlooked. And in that search, I found more than I expected.
Found this old map of Scarborough and thought about a patient who came in after years of dealing with pain.
They weren’t looking to become an athlete.
They just wanted to get back to the things they used to do without thinking twice like walking, training, enjoying life.
Sometimes rehab isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about finding your way back to yourself.
Back to the things you used to do without thinking twice.
Back to the confidence you had in your body.
Back to moving without fear.
Back to doing what makes you feel like you again.
Because progress isn’t always about becoming better than who you were.
Sometimes, it’s simply about getting back to the version of yourself you thought you had lost.
That’s performance too.
