Aspire to Inspire Mentor Application Winter 2018 01/17/2018

Are you looking for an opportunity to be involved in the community? Want to make a difference in a student's life? And hone your public speaking skills?

If you answered yes to any of the questions above, then Aspire to Inspire is your answer!!

We are currently hiring mentors for the winter semester. Mentors will be visiting high schools and mentoring grade 11 and 12 students along their transition from high school to university. This is a great chance for any students (first years included) to get involved on campus and make a difference in the UTSC area.

Applications are due January 26th at 11:59 p.m, so get them in ASAP!

Hey everyone! If any of you are looking for an amazing chance to get involved with Aspire to Inspire, this is your opportunity!

We are currently hiring mentors that will be traveling to high schools and mentoring students along their transition from high school to university.

This is a great chance for any students (first years included) to get involved on campus and make a difference in the UTSC area.

Mentors: Meet with high school students, provide guidance, support and personal anecdotes to assist in their transition to University

Operations Coordinator: Assist the Operations team in training mentors and organizing monthly council meetings. Plays key role in ongoing success of our mentorship program.

Marketing Director: Assists the Marketing VP in developing posters, advertisements and social media posts for our partner high schools to disseminate to their students.

UTSC's first MEDTalks conference will be launching tomorrow (Saturday, February 27th) and we are very excited to be hosting our last and considerably accomplished speaker (09): Anjum Sultana

Anjum Sultana is Masters of Public Health Student at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto specializing in Health Promotion and Public Health Policy.
In June 2014, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Toronto with a Honours Bachelors of Science where she completed a double major in Health Studies and Neuroscience with a minor in Psychology. She completed the intensive Co-op program in Health Studies where she completed two practicums. Her first practicum was in Western Province, Kenya where she worked on issues related to health systems strengthening, and neglected tropical diseases with the local Ministry of Health and the Students for International Development organization. She completed her second practicum at eHealth Ontario.

Anjum has worked on various research and policy projects focusing on pharmacare, dental care, immigrant and refugee health, mental health, global health and sexual health with organizations such as Association of Ontario Health Centres (AOHC), Ontario Institutes of Higher Education (OISE), Women's College Hospital, the Hospital for Sick Children, and the Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention (ASAAP).

During her graduate studies, Anjum was the Co-Chair of the 8th Annual Dalla Lana Student-Led Conference entitled 'Racial Justice Matters: Advocating for Racial Health Equity', and is currently the Executive Co-Director of IMAGINE, the University of Toronto's student-run clinic and health promotion initiative.
