: When sexual assault victims speak out, their institutions often betray them — Jennifer J. Freyd for 💬

"Institutional betrayal is harm an institution does to those who depend upon it. This betrayal can take the form of overt policies or behaviors, such as discriminatory rules or genocide.

Harm can also mean failing to do that what is reasonably expected of the institution, such as not providing relief to disaster victims or failing to respond effectively to sexual violence. For instance, some victims of assault are punished or even demoted or fired for reporting the assault to their institution."

we never shared our solidarity statement recorded for (internet issues 🥲) but these words only ring more urgent & true. Join .1 — tiny.cc/JoinIDGCFast

"Hello. We are IDGC . We are marking two years of genocide in Gaza today from the Greater Toronto Area and specifically the east end, or Scarborough and the University of Toronto, Scarborough (UTSC) Campus. We are joining a collective candle vigil from different parts of the world in solidarity with the people of Gaza, who have been brutally killed, maimed, orphaned displaced, starved, and brutalized for two years now. We stand together to say enough is enough. Two years is too long for the world ot make a genocide stop. 680,000 people dead is too many people for the world ot remain silent. Even 65,000 people dead is too many. Too many children have been killed, disfigued for life, orphaned and starved for humanity to turn a blind eye. We stand the people of Palestine in this most grave hour of need. We cry, we grieve, we rage. We speak up today, as we have for the last two years, to say - This MUST STOP. NOW. STOP THE KILLING. End the Genocide. FREE PALESTINE. NOW."

Statement is now from 3+ months ago, making our fight all the more urgent.
