Montessori classrooms are full of quiet creativity, a child arranging colours by shade, building a tower block by block, or carefully composing a picture. When children are given time, space, and simple materials, their imagination naturally comes to life.

Research summarized by Harvard and the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that play nurtures creativity, problem-solving, and emotional resilience. Through open-ended exploration, children practice thinking in flexible ways, a skill that supports both future learning and everyday life.

🍁 Happy Canada Day! 🇨🇦

Today, we celebrate the people, history, and traditions that make Canada such a special place to call home.

For this month's Learn Through Stories feature, we're reading Our Flag: The Story of Canada's Maple Leaf by Ann-Maureen Owens and Jane Yealland. This engaging story introduces young readers to the history of Canada's flag and the events that led to the iconic maple leaf becoming a symbol of our nation.

It's a wonderful opportunity for children to learn about our country's journey, the meaning behind our flag, and the values that bring Canadians together.

🧡🌿 Today, we recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day, a time to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, histories, and contributions of Indigenous Peoples across Canada.

One meaningful way to learn about Indigenous experiences is through stories. This year, we're highlighting When We Were Alone by Monique Gray Smith, a beautiful children's book that encourages conversations about family, resilience, identity, and the importance of remembering and sharing stories across generations. 📚

How does your family learn about and celebrate different cultures and traditions? 🌟
