Joan Folkes is Selassie's first Head Girl. Merlene Ottey is her younger Cousin. Joan ran tracks at the Stadium representing Selassie and later Holy Childhood High. Merlene and her brother Conrad Ottey both represented Jamaica at the Carifesta Games and the Penn Relays until their departure from Jamaica in 1979 on Track Scholarships. The rest is History.
