°Vantara:
•About: A 3,500 acre wildlife rescue, treatment and rehabilitation center located in Gujarat, India.
•Meaning: Vantara is a word derived from Sanskrit, 'Van' means Forest and 'Tara' means Star symbolizing a, “Star of the Forest”.
•Visionary: Vantara is the passion project of founder Anant Ambani. He is a board member of the Reliance Foundation and younger son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani. In 2025, Anant was awarded the Global Humanitarian Award by the Global Humane Society.
•Inauguration: While launched in Feb 2024, it was formally inaugurated by India's PM Narendra Modi on Mar 4, 2025.
•Mission: It operates on 4 pillars: Rescue, Rehabilitation, Revival and Rewilding, aiming to provide a "Sevalaya" (Sanctuary of Service) for injured, abused and endangered animals.
•Ops: As of 2025, the facility houses over 150,000 animals across more than 2,000 species, including 500+ elephants, lions, tigers, and rare reptiles. It functions as a non-commercial, philanthropic project focusing on biodiversity and habitat restoration.
•World-Class Facilities: The center features specialized habitats and state of the art vet facilities (22 hospitals, 17 clinics) over 9000 square metres with advanced tech (e.g. MRI, CT Scan, Laser Therapy, Robotic Surgery, Oxygen Therapy) for animals of different species. In addition it has a dedicated elephant hospital with unique treatments (e.g. Hydrotherapy Pools, Specialized Jacuzzis). Also there are Ayurveda and Acupuncture treatment centers. Throughout the sanctuary, there are dedicated positive reinforcement zones to ensure evidence based care tailored to each animal’s needs.
