Happy May 1st! 🌞
Today in France we celebrate workers’ rights… by not working (the irony is beautiful 😄).
So if you're lucky enough to not work today enjoy the day, take it easy, and if anyone asks… you’re honoring tradition😉

Today is International Women’s Day. Paris has always been shaped by remarkable women — in science, music, politics, philosophy, and fashion.
Here are six who left a powerful mark on the city and its history.
1️⃣ Marie Curie
The pioneering scientist carried out her groundbreaking research in Paris, where she discovered the elements polonium and radium. She became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and the only person to win it in two different sciences. Her work changed medicine and physics forever.
2️⃣ Josephine Baker
Born in the United States, Josephine Baker became a superstar in Paris in the 1920s. She later worked for the French Resistance during World War II and became a civil rights activist. In 2021, she became the first Black woman honored in the Panthéon in Paris.
3️⃣ Simone de Beauvoir
The famous philosopher and writer lived much of her life in Paris, especially in Saint-Germain-des-Prés cafés where she wrote and debated ideas. Her book The Second S*x became one of the most influential works in the history of feminism.
4️⃣ Edith Piaf
Often called “The Little Sparrow,” Edith Piaf became the voice of Paris. Songs like La Vie en Rose made her an international icon and one of the most beloved singers in French history.
5️⃣ Simone Veil
A Holocaust survivor who later became one of France’s most respected political leaders. She played a key role in legalizing abortion in France in 1975 and later became the first president of the European Parliament.
6️⃣ Coco Chanel
One of the most influential fashion designers in history. Working from Paris, Chanel revolutionized women’s clothing by introducing simpler, more comfortable styles and creating the famous Chanel brand.
