While there are no words that could adequately capture the collective rage and the heartbreak of women around the world at this moment (and at countless others throughout history), here is my attempt.

It is every woman you know in some way, shape or form. It is a systemic, patriarchal human rights failure of grotesque magnitude. We cannot keep screaming into a void.

On days when it all seems too much, all-consuming and overwhelming, it helps to take a beat. Just a moment to breathe and remind yourself who you are, what you’ve already overcome, the endless possibilities that lay ahead… and to reignite that “why”.

I DO wanna thank me for believing in me. I published these two books during a time when my life as I knew it was falling apart at the seams. I wrote the books I needed to read. To make sense of it all, to create some order, to quiet the chaos in my head and in my body. To reintroduce me to me. To show me what I was made of, and what I deserved.

In the final pages of my poetry book, I added this page. It echoes the dedication, but is more in depth. The last year has been one of utter heartbreak, and one of soul-illuminating becoming. The veil was lifted, many truths revealed, and I was forced to meet many versions of me I didn’t know existed. Today, I honour each one. They carried me, protected me. They made me who I am today.
