ZEAL quantum is back with an Art Workshop event!
Art has been proven to promote creativity and neural connections so if you ever feel that you need that creative kick, Zeal encourages you to get a paper and pencil and draw!
In this workshop we will learn how to hold and use soft pastels and mix colours using them. We can’t wait to see you all soon!

Introducing our fourth panelist! 🎉
Katherine is currently pursuing her Ph.D. In Psychology at York University.

Here is what Katherine said about being a first generation student who got heavily involved in academia!

“I'm a cognitive neuroscientist working to develop interventions that will improve memory in aging. As a first-generation student in my undergrad, I never would have believed that I would one day be pursuing a PhD and using cutting-edge technology such as fMRI, brain stimulation, and genetic analysis. I look forward to sharing my experiences and tips with other first-generation students.”

Shila Khayambashi was a first generation student who made it all the way to her Ph.D.!
Here is what Shila said about being a first gen: “The first-generation university students in Canada enter a world of obscurity, lack of resources, inequalities and inequities. I am a first-generation immigrant and a first-generation university student in Canada; therefore, I personally experienced these shortcomings and inaccessibility. “

Maseh Hadaf has a BSc in Global Health from York University and is currently pursuing his MA at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs. He is involved in research on technology, gender, and health in his native Afghanistan. He completed his co-op with the strategic policy branch at Global Affairs Canada and has interned for an NGO in Jordan and with the UNDP in Ukraine. As a developer, he is cautiously optimistic about ICT4Dev. You can tune in to his muddled thoughts on the DeepTox podcast.
