Every week I talk to at least 100 women who are putting in real effort and getting nothing back for it.

It’s rarely a discipline problem. It’s usually one of these 5 things, and I’m not changing my mind on any of them.

Filmed before breakfast. Still applies after dinner.

6 hills that I die on a fitness coach that you need to accept if you want to make sure that the next 10 years has you looking better than the last 10

I don’t care what you looked like in college. I really don’t. I care what you’re gonna look like at 47

Everybody’s walking around holding up a photo from 2004 like it’s the Holy Grail. “I just wanna get back to THAT.” Back to what? You were 22. You ate pizza at 2am, slept four hours and your knees still worked. That wasn’t a fitness program. That was being 22. You didn’t earn that body, you got it for free, and it came with an expiry date.

So now what, you’re gonna get it back with salads and cardio until you hate everybody? Good luck. That’s how you end up smaller, cranky and still annoyed at the mirror.

And look, I’ll say it. You can build a better body now than you had back then. Stronger. More muscle. Carrying every grocery bag in one trip like a psychopath. Sarah did it. She looks better now than she did in her 20s, and she didn’t get there by chasing some old photo.

Your best body isn’t behind you. It’s in front of you. You just gotta stop doing the dumb stuff first.

Comment “BUILT” if you’re done chasing a photo from 2004 and want the plan that works now.

If you’re in peri/menopause, eating less and working out more might be the exact reason you feel like you’re trying harder while getting nowhere.

And no, I’m not saying hormones don’t matter.

They absolutely can change your sleep, hunger, recovery, energy and how much you move throughout the day.

What they don’t do is magically make fat loss impossible.

The problem is that most women respond to those changes by doubling down on the same strategy:

Eat less.
Add cardio.
Get stricter.

Which works great until you’re exhausted, starving by Friday and wondering why your waist still isn’t changing.

That’s why “just cut more calories” is usually the last thing I want to hear when someone tells me she’s stuck.

First, I want to know what actually changed.

Sleep.
Steps.
Food intake across the whole week.
Training quality.
Strength.
Recovery.

Because your body may have changed.

That doesn’t mean the rules stopped working. It means your plan needs to account for the body you have now, not the one you had at 32.

Swipe through the 3 mistakes I see most often before you decide the answer is eating even less.

If you’re ready to stop piecing this together on your own, DM me “COACHING” and I’ll show you how we’d approach this inside Built 180 Strong.

The women who DM me in their 40s are usually doing more than they did at 30.

More classes. Longer fasts. Carbs treated like a controlled substance.

And the scale hasn’t moved since spring.
When effort goes up and results go down, working harder is the last thing you need.

Fasting till noon feels productive until you’re eating granola out of the bag at 9pm.

Cardio every day feels productive until your legs are too cooked to lift anything heavier than your Stanley cup.

Count two things this week: how many days you lifted something heavy, and how many meals had 30g+ of protein. If both numbers are small and your cardio count is big, you’ve found the leak.

Want to know the first thing I’d change in your plan?

It may not be your fault. But it is still your responsibility.

PCOS, endometriosis, menopause, genetics, your relationship with food… some women absolutely get dealt a harder hand.

That deserves acknowledgement.

But living inside the excuse only wins you the sympathy award. And unfortunately, that thing has terrible resale value. 😂

You can acknowledge what made this harder and still decide to do something about it.

That’s the conversation.

The woman who lost 20 lbs and kept it off isn’t more disciplined than you.

She just learned three things you haven’t yet.

You know who I’m talking about. Toned, eats at the barbecue without a spreadsheet, doesn’t act like cake is a felony.

She’s not younger than you and she’s not gifted.

She mastered a few skills most women skip because they keep starting over every Monday.

1. She knows her food. She tracked long enough that she can eyeball a plate and get close. That’s where “eating intuitively” comes from. You don’t get to skip the tracking part and jump straight to the freedom part.
2. She knows what hard feels like in the gym. Sweaty and out of breath isn’t the target. Giving a muscle a reason to grow is.
3. She’s consistent in a boring way. Same basics through vacations, busy seasons, and days she didn’t feel like it.

None of that takes more willpower than you have. It takes skills, and skills can be taught.

Apparently the fix for waking up at 3 a.m. is magnesium, mouth tape, a $90 pillow mist and pretending you don’t have a job.

Or you could look at what you ate yesterday.

Coffee for breakfast. A sad lunch over the keyboard. Dinner portioned for a moderately hungry toddler, because you’re being good. Then you’re up at 3:07 with your heart going, blaming Tuesday’s staff meeting.

Swipe for what’s actually happening while you’re asleep.

And before someone comments “well actually,” no, not every 3 a.m. wake-up is a food problem.

Perimenopause, alcohol, caffeine, apnea and real stress all do this too. But if you’re eating as little as humanly possible and waking up wired three nights a week, start with the food.

It’s the only thing on that list that’s free to fix.

Send this to the friend who owns every sleep supplement on the shelf and has never once looked at her lunch.

Comment SLEEP and I’ll send you my 3 A.M. Wake-Up Check.
