If you haven't been out to the Mckellar Island Bird Observatory, make some time to visit this fall!

My six year old son and I had a blast volunteering for a few days this spring. I have some previous mist net experience and was able to help with extractions while my son helped release the birds after banding.

Hello birdy people!

🤠 Would anyone be interested in a "birdwatching by ear" workshop this Saturday (June 6)?

- Meet 8:00am in trowbridge parking lot
- 2-3 hours depending on the birds 🐦
- $10/participant
- We'll start with an initial introduction about field guides, apps, binoculars, and some birding tips
- During the walk we'll focus on identifying birds by sound, but we'll also ID any species we can visually as well.
- Expect mosquitoes! 🦟

Who would be interested? (If at least 3 people can commit to attending, I'll run the workshop!)

Want to see more birds? Get yourself some birding buddies! The more eyes out looking, the more likely someone will see something amazing. I'm so incredibly lucky to have some great birding connections in Thunder Bay.

Yesterday, May 22, I received a text about a Northern wheatear (a rarity in Thunder Bay) down at Marina Park near Pool 6. Within 20 min I was able to lay eyes on the bird myself! ... Along with 10 other lucky, local birders!
