The Indigenous Education Department has been hosting 'Indigenous Photo Shoot' events around the district for graduates of the Class of 2024.

Wonderful "Southside Celebration" for families and children at Cassie Hall Elementary School yesterday afternoon with activities, face painting, food and more! Thank you to all those who organized the event and who are doing great things for children in their local community!

The school district is very happy to share that Kitwanga Elementary School has been awarded the 2024 Indigo Love of Reading Foundation Grant valued at $10,000! Funds will be used to make the school's library more inclusive and culturally relevant for learners. The school also looks forward to hosting community literacy events in 2024-25! Congrats Kitwanga and hamiyaa / thank you to the Indigo Love of Reading Foundation!

As part of a focus on Land-based Learning, nine students from Kitimat City High School recently journeyed to the Kitlope! This area is known as Misk'usa and is home to the G'psgolox Totem Pole. Special thanks to LNG Canada and other community partners for their support.

Hazelton Secondary Students Kelly Wilson & Ava Star served up delicious sushi & spring rolls to Coast Mountains’ Trustees Jonkman, Warcup and Harrison at the public meeting of the Board this week in Hazelton. Both students recently participated in the culinary program with Coast Mountain College. Bon appetit!

Learner engagement at its finest! Dozens of students from around Coast Mountains School District participated in this week’s Zone[01] robotics competition in Kitimat sponsored by Rio Tinto. Loads of gratitude to all those who made it happen for kids - teachers, volunteers, sponsors, and caregivers. Congrats to the champs from Nechako Elementary School!
