On September 19th, the Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) and Métis communities across Canada mark Powley Day to remember the recognition of Métis rights in the landmark R. v. Powley decision.

Classrooms across our board have been engaging in meaningful activities to honour this important day. Thank you to our educators and students for taking the time to learn, reflect on, and celebrate Métis traditions and culture!

Flags at all Ontario government buildings and establishments across the province will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, September 13, 2026, to recognize Firefighters’ National Memorial Day.

Where buildings are closed for the weekend, flags may be lowered at the close of business on Friday, September 11, and remain at half-mast until business resumes on Monday, September 14.
