Why are C–D–E–F–G the easiest piano notes for beginners to learn first?

If you’ve ever noticed that many beginner piano lessons start with C–D–E–F–G, there’s actually a reason behind it.

These five notes help students build finger coordination, understand keyboard patterns, and play simple melodies without feeling overwhelmed.

Ragtime first became popular in the late 1800s and was made famous by composers like Scott Joplin, often called the “King of Ragtime."

One of the coolest things about ragtime piano is the left-hand “oom-pah” rhythm that gives the music its bouncy, playful energy. It almost feels like the piano is dancing. 💃

Fun fact: ragtime actually helped shape early jazz piano, and you can still hear its influence in modern music today.

For piano students, ragtime is also amazing practice for:
