Bonjour from our Grade 1/2 artists! 🇫🇷🎨 We celebrated a year of learning about famous artists with a full Art Day in our Paris-themed classroom. Students explored, created, and were inspired by the works of Hokusai, Georgia O’Keeffe, Vincent van Gogh, Alma Thomas, René Magritte, and more. A magical celebration filled with creativity, colour, and smiles!

June 12th is Career Day! What do you want your future career to be? A hairdresser, a police officer, a vet, an actor, or a farmer? Show your Downie School Spirit by dressing up for the last spirit day of the year!
Thank you to our amazing Downie Dolphins for supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Together, we raised $700.00 online and $136.00 for pie-in-the-face tickets, for an incredible total of $836.00! Thank you to our Intermediate Game and Team Leaders for organizing the fun-filled day and to our staff volunteers who took a pie in the face for a great cause. Way to go, Dolphins.
We are so proud of our Art Club members for taking a leadership role in promoting kindness throughout our school. Their enthusiasm and dedication inspired students in every classroom to sign our Kindness Pledge and help make our school an even more welcoming place.
Congratulations to the Winners of the Downie Central Public School Kindness & Integrity Poster Contest 2026! 🎉
This year's poster contest challenged students to creatively explore the themes of Kindness and Integrity through hand-drawn, full-colour artwork.
Integrity means being strong enough to do what you know is right—even when it's difficult and even when no one is watching. Kindness is showing care and compassion toward yourself and others and making a positive difference in the lives of those around you. Together, these values help build a caring, connected, and respectful school community.
We were incredibly impressed by the creativity, thoughtfulness, and artistic talent demonstrated by all participants. Thank you to every student who submitted a poster and shared their vision of kindness and integrity.
