📍 LOCAL NEWS — French Artist's Exhibit Bridges Art Gap Between NL and Saint-Pierre
French artist Marie-José Mahé and fellow French artists have set up a display at the Jumping Bean on Elizabeth Avenue in St. John's.
The exhibit highlights similarities and differences in art between Newfoundland and Labrador and Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon, with many pieces reflecting life on the small French island of about 6,000 people.
Mahé says the idea is to build ties and cooperation between the two regions — to learn from each other and make the link between them easier.
"We're so close and it's two different cultures, two different ways of doing things, even in the arts," she told VOCM News, noting Saint-Pierre's lively arts scene.
